Hungarian Translation Services
A Hungarian to English translation with certificate starts at $54 per document at DHCTranslations, and the signed statement and the PDF sit inside that figure; past 400 words the price is $0.12 per word. Birth and marriage extracts, a police clearance, a vaccination record and university diplomas are all handled the same way, with the surname-first order settled before the certificate is signed.

What a certified Hungarian translation costs
Certified translations start at $54 per document: from $0.12 per word after the first 400 words into English, and from $0.14 per word for English into another language, with some pairs quoted higher.
Certification is the translator's signed statement, and it is included in the price.
A translation for USCIS, a US court or a US university is certified by the translator's signed statement, and nothing further is added to the quote.

What a certified Hungarian translation comes with
A Hungarian order is issued with a certification page naming the translator and the date, and the translation states which name order it follows, which is what keeps a US officer from reading a surname as a middle name.
What the certification includes
- Signed statement of accuracy: the translator's name, signature and date, their CIOL or ITI membership number, our company stamp and our contact details.
- Name order: a family name printed first is shown in English order, with a line recording that the certificate gives it the other way round, so a USCIS form can be completed without guessing which of the two names is the surname.
- Married names: the married form of a surname, a doubled hyphenated surname and a name adopted later in life are each set down as the extract gives them, and the version to be used in the US is agreed with you before the certificate is signed.
- Certified PDF: the certified file is emailed at no extra cost, which is what a US filing accepts. A printed set can be arranged if a receiving body insists on paper, and is quoted per order.

Hungarian writes the surname first, and the registrar issues the extract
A Hungarian document puts the family name ahead of the given name, so the two orders name one person rather than two. The certificate is issued by the registrar at the district office, and the English has to fix a single name order for the whole file so a US reviewer can match it against a passport or a petition form.
Birth certificate
- Hungarian document
- születési anyakönyvi kivonat
- Issued by
- the district registrar
Marriage certificate
- Hungarian document
- házassági anyakönyvi kivonat
- Issued by
- the district registrar
Death certificate
- Hungarian document
- halotti anyakönyvi kivonat
- Issued by
- the district registrar
Police clearance
- Hungarian document
- erkölcsi bizonyítvány
- Issued by
- the criminal records authority
The registrar issues a certificate in full or in short form, and only the full version repeats the notes recording a later marriage, a divorce or a change of name. Name order is the other decision to settle before ordering, since the English must hold one form from the first page to the last.

Frequently asked questions
DHCTranslations handles Hungarian originals from any US state, working from scans and returning English with a signed certificate. Send the pages and say who receives them, whether that is USCIS, a state court, a university or an evaluation service, and the written price follows before translation starts.
The first document is $54, which carries the certificate and the PDF. Words beyond 400 are $0.12 each into English, and work from English into Hungarian is $0.14 per word. A family set of extracts is priced on the total word count, not on the page count.
A one-page certificate paid before 4pm ET on a weekday is usually sent the same day. Three or four family extracts normally take a business day, and a diploma with its transcript or a court decision is given a definite date in the quote.
Yes, when the English is complete and the translator's signed statement of competence carries the date and contact details, which is the standard set in 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3). Every Hungarian file we issue includes that statement and accounts for each printed line of the original.
Family name first is the Hungarian convention, so a name printed in that order appears in the other order in English. The English order is used throughout and the Hungarian order is noted beside it, which stops a surname being read as a middle name on a US form.
It is the civil register number the district registrar assigns to the entry, and US petition forms often carry a box for it. The English gives the number together with the registrar's name and the issuing office, in the position where the extract prints them.
Both. A full extract repeats the notes recording a marriage, a divorce, a name change or a death, while a short extract carries only the basic entry. US agencies generally want the fuller version, so tell us which you hold and we translate that one.
It marks a married woman's name formed from her husband's. The form is reproduced as printed, an explanation follows in the English, and we confirm with you which version matches the passport before the work is finished.
Yes. The booklet is translated page by page, with each vaccination, the date it was given and the clinic stamp kept together, which is what a US school, a pediatric practice or a civil surgeon's exam usually asks to see.
Yes. An evaluator needs the diploma and the grade record in full English, with the institution, the program and the marks awarded. Hungarian grades are reproduced as given and the five-point scale is explained in a note rather than turned into US letter grades.
No originals are needed. Clear scans or photographs of each side, including a reverse that carries an endorsement, are enough to begin. The certified English is emailed as a PDF first. Paper is produced only where an office insists: request a price, and the set travels by USPS with tracking after the postage is settled.
Yes. Hungarian-language certificates from Transylvania and Vojvodina are read, including bilingual forms that print Romanian or Serbian beside the Hungarian. The issuing authority is identified from the seal before the order is priced.
