Certified Translations for WES and NACES

Word-for-word English translations of transcripts, mark sheets and diplomas for a WES or NACES credential evaluation, with every grade and credit shown as the issuing institution recorded them.

WES and the NACES members ask for a translation that is professional, word for word and legible, and they will not evaluate a translation made from a photocopy of a photocopy. We translate the transcript or diploma from the issued document, keep the grading table intact, and certify it with a signed statement, from $54 per document.

    Credential Evaluation

What an Evaluation Service Needs in the Translation

The evaluator is not reading the translation for pleasure. They are matching subject by subject and point by point against a US scale, so a translation that tidies the layout, merges columns or explains the grading system instead of reproducing it is of no use to them.

    What the Translation Covers

    • The Grading Table: Reproduced as a table with each mark, credit and maximum where the original shows it, so the evaluator can convert it themselves.

    • Subject by Subject: One line per subject, with pass marks and division results kept where the university printed them.

    • Marks Not Converted: We translate the scale, we do not re-score it. Substituting a US grade would be us doing the evaluation, which is the service you are paying them for.

    • Institution Details: The awarding body, campus, faculty, seal and registrar's signature are all rendered, because those are what the evaluator checks first.

    Before You Order

Check three things with the evaluator before paying for a translation, because two of them can make the translation unnecessary.

    • Whether They Need It: WES often obtains records directly from the institution, in which case a translation you commission is not part of the file at all.

    • The Document They Accept: An original transcript, not a scanned copy of a copy. Send us what you were issued and we will work from that.

    • Every Page: A transcript with a reverse side, an annex of subjects or a second-language stamp needs all of it translated, not just the grade table.

Send the syllabus or course descriptions only if the evaluator has asked for them, since they change the price.

Prices are per document and start at $54 — see what a translation costs.

    Ordering a Transcript Translation

The evaluator sets the rules, so the order starts with what they have asked for and works back from there.

    Frequently asked questions

DHCTranslations produces certified transcript and diploma translations for WES and NACES evaluations from our New York base, keeping the grading table exactly as the university printed it. Send the records and we return a priced quote before any work begins.

Often not. WES asks the awarding institution to send records directly, and a document it receives in English from the university needs no translation. Ask the evaluator first, because commissioning a translation you do not need is the most common waste of money in this process.

A translation by a professional translator that is word for word and legible, submitted with the document it was made from. WES states that it will not evaluate a translation of a photocopy, so the record you send has to be the issued document rather than a copy of a copy.

From $54 at DHCTranslations for a single certificate, and $0.12 per word after the first 400 words for a transcript. A two-page transcript usually falls between the two. Anything extra the evaluator asks for, such as syllabus pages, is quoted separately and shown in the same figure.

A one-page diploma ordered before 4pm ET on a weekday is usually returned by DHCTranslations the same day. A multi-page transcript with a grade table usually takes one business day, and a set covering several years of study is given a date in the quote.

The transcript for each qualification, the degree or diploma certificate, and for some members a statement of comparability or a syllabus. Members set their own rules, so the list in your evaluator's instructions is the one to follow and we quote against it.

No. We translate the scale and the marks as recorded and leave the conversion to the evaluator, whose report is what the university or employer is relying on. A translation that has already re-scored the marks is a second opinion, not a translation.

Yes, and it is the format we see most often. The table is rebuilt in English with the same rows and columns, subject names are translated accurately rather than loosely, and the original is included alongside so a column heading can be checked.

We send it to you and you decide where it goes. Some applicants upload it themselves within minutes of receiving it, and others ask their university to forward it. Where an evaluator insists on receiving it from the translation provider, tell us and we will send it.

That is the usual situation outside the English-speaking world, and it is exactly what the certified translation is for. Send the original-language record with every page and seal visible, and the translation will stand in place of an English version the university cannot produce.
