What a certified Dutch translation costs

Certified translations start at £40 per document: from £0.09 per word after the first 400 words into English, and from £0.10 per word for English into another language, with some pairs quoted higher.

Notarisation, where the receiving body asks for it, is quoted separately because it depends on the document and on notary availability.

FCDO apostille is available with our Express Service (usually 6-7 working days) or Urgent Service (usually 3-4 working days). Both are estimates: the real time depends on the document, the language pair and the level of certification, and is confirmed in your quote.

What comes with a certified Dutch translation

A Dutch or Belgian order arrives with a signed statement of accuracy naming the translator, with their signature, the date and contact details.

    What the certification includes

    • Signed statement of accuracy: the translator's name, signature and date, their CIOL or ITI membership number, our company stamp and our contact details.
    • Marginal notes: later marriages, divorces and name changes noted in the margin are translated where the certificate carries them.
    • Seals and signatures: stamps, notary seals and handwritten entries sit where they do on the original.
    • PDF and post: the certified PDF is emailed at no extra cost; printed copies are optional, by first class or tracked post.

    Regional vocabulary

Dutch on either side of the border

Dutch is the official language of the Netherlands, Flanders and Suriname, and the same document is named differently in each. As a professional translation company we are well aware of the terms used in different regions; below is an example of how we localise our translations to suit our clients' needs.

Variants we handle Netherlands Dutch Belgian Dutch (Flemish) Surinamese Dutch

    Police clearance

    Birth certificate

A Dutch record is issued by a municipal office and a Belgian one by a commune or a city office. Both add marginal notes, and both number the register differently, so the English keeps the reference as the certificate carries it.

    Frequently asked questions

DHCTranslations translates Dutch and Belgian documents into certified English for UK visas, court files, universities and regulators. Each order is prepared by a qualified translator and returned with a signed certification page, with same-day completion available when the order and cleared payment are confirmed before 4pm on a working day.

Dutch paperwork is quoted from £40 per document, and anything past 400 words is charged from £0.09 per word. Notarisation is quoted separately because the notary sets the fee, and the total is agreed before work begins.

Dutch documents are usually finished the same day when the order and cleared payment arrive before 4pm on a working day, and later orders start on the next working day. Urgent visa or court files can be prioritised, and the delivery date is set in your quote before you pay.

Yes. A Dutch order carries a signed accuracy statement, the translator credentials and agency details the caseworker can contact. Acceptance is not something an agency can settle in advance. No Dutch translation we have certified has been rejected over its certification.

They are the notes a municipal office adds to the margin of a civil-status certificate, recording a later marriage, divorce, name change or death. They are translated with the rest of the certificate, because UK caseworkers often rely on them.

Yes. We handle documents from the Netherlands, Belgium and Suriname. Belgian communes use some different official terms, so we translate the version in front of us rather than assuming a Dutch layout.

Yes. The certificate of conduct issued by the Dutch screening agency is the Dutch police clearance, and we translate it in full, including the reference number, the issuing office and any stamp.

Yes. A VOG (Verklaring Omtrent het Gedrag) from Justis is the Dutch certificate of conduct, and we translate it in full, including the reference number, the issuing office and any stamp.

No. A clear scan or photograph of every page, including the reverse and any stamp, is enough. The originals stay with you; the certified English version is returned as a PDF.

Not the Dutch or Belgian original. The FCDO will only apostille a document issued in the UK or a translation we completed and had notarised, so notarising our English version is the step that makes an apostille possible at all. The original is legalised where it was issued.

Yes. Flemish is Dutch as used in Belgium, and a Belgian certificate follows its own municipal layout with different register numbering. The language is the same, so a Flemish birth or marriage certificate is translated as a Dutch document, with the commune name and its reference carried across as the certificate shows them.

Yes. Dutch records are translated into English and certified for UK authorities, with a signed statement of accuracy, while commercial files can be translated without certification. Certificates, contracts and transcripts are all handled, starting from £40 per document, or from £0.09 per word after 400 words.

Yes. English documents are translated into Dutch for Dutch and Belgian employers, authorities and businesses, with certification where the receiving office accepts it. Contracts, manuals, correspondence and personal papers are quoted from £40 per document, and from £0.10 per word past 400 words, with some pairs priced higher.
