What a certified Farsi translation costs

Certified translations start at £40 per document: from £0.09 per word after the first 400 words into English, and from £0.10 per word for English into another language, with some pairs quoted higher.

Notarisation, where the receiving body asks for it, is quoted separately because it depends on the document and on notary availability.

FCDO apostille is available with our Express Service (usually 6-7 working days) or Urgent Service (usually 3-4 working days). Both are estimates: the real time depends on the document, the language pair and the level of certification, and is confirmed in your quote.

Every Farsi order leaves with a certification page naming the translator, the source script and the date, plus a note that Solar Hijri dates have been converted.

    What every Farsi order includes

    • Signed statement of accuracy: the translator's name, signature and date, their CIOL or ITI membership number, our company stamp and our contact details.
    • Both calendars: every Solar Hijri date is converted and printed with the Gregorian equivalent beside it, and Persian numerals become Western digits.
    • Marginal notes: the birth booklet records marriages, divorces and name changes in its margins, and each note is translated where it sits rather than moved into a list.
    • PDF and post: the certified PDF is emailed at no extra cost; printed copies are optional, by first class or tracked post.

Prices are per document and start at £40 — see what a translation costs.

Farsi: Persian script and a different calendar

Iranian files are built from the birth booklet rather than a certificate, and each document carries a name that a UK form has no equivalent for. The rows below give the Persian wording that appears on the paper.

The birth booklet records marriage, divorce and children's births as pages added over a lifetime, so one document can carry a whole civil history. It is translated in full rather than summarised, with the office named.

    Frequently asked questions

DHCTranslations translates Farsi documents into certified English for clients across the UK, working from scans uploaded through the secure portal. Iranian, Afghan and Tajik records are all handled, and the finished PDF arrives with a signed certification page.

A single Farsi certificate starts from £40 per document, and longer files are priced from £0.09 per word after 400 words. Notarisation and FCDO apostille are quoted separately, because each depends on the document. The amount is confirmed in writing before any work starts. The £0.09 rate is for translation into English; English into Farsi starts from £0.10 per word.

Same-day completion is available for most Farsi documents when the order and cleared payment are confirmed before 4pm on a working day. Orders confirmed later, or at a weekend or on a bank holiday, start the next working day.

Iranian records use the Solar Hijri calendar, so every date is converted to Gregorian and printed with the original beside it. Persian numerals are rendered as Western digits. The conversion is checked twice, because a mismatched birth date is the most common reason a Home Office file is queried.

It is the Iranian birth booklet, and yes. The birth entry, national ID number, photographs, marriage and divorce notes and any name-change annotations are all translated, because UK caseworkers read the margins as carefully as the main page.

Yes. Afghan birth certificates, marriage papers and educational documents are handled, including ministry seals and Afghan calendar dates. Dari and Iranian Persian share the script but differ in vocabulary, so the translator is matched to the country of issue.

Persian names take several English forms, and the spelling on a passport may not match the certificate. We settle one form per person, align it with the passport when supplied, and reuse it across the whole order so the file reads as one identity.

No. Clear scans or photographs are enough to begin, and the certified translation comes back by email as a PDF. Where a court, embassy or registry asks for a paper copy, tracked hard copies can be posted to any address in the UK or overseas.

Yes. Tajik documents are written in Cyrillic and are translated by a Persian speaker who reads that script, while pre-1979 Iranian records use older terminology and handwriting that needs a specialist eye. Both are quoted once the pages have been seen.

Yes, but not the Farsi original: the FCDO legalises only a UK-issued document, or our own notarised translation of the Farsi one. Notarisation comes first, in London, and the apostille is applied to that notarised English document. Both stages are quoted separately and neither is automatic.
