Court-Ready Certified Translations & Statements of Truth

Foreign-language evidence must be translated before it can be relied on in England and Wales. HM Courts & Tribunals Service expects a certified translation that mirrors the original layout, identifies the translator, and — where the document is evidence — carries a signed Statement of Truth. That declaration is an additional certification layer on top of standard certification, so tell us at quote stage that the translation is for court.

What HMCTS Expects From a Certified Translation

    • Certified Translator: A qualified, independent translator, with credentials and the date of translation shown on the certificate.

    • Signed Statement of Truth: A separate declaration, signed by the translator, confirming the translation is a true and accurate rendering. It is an additional layer, requested for court use.

    • Exhibit Formatting: Layout, stamps, seals and handwritten notes translated where they carry wording and set out in the same order so the exhibit can be cross-referenced.

    • Pagination to the Bundle: Translations paginated to match your bundle index so pages can be inserted without renumbering.

Statement of Truth: An Additional Layer

Standard certification covers most official uses. Court evidence needs the extra declaration, so tell us it is for HM Courts & Tribunals Service.

    • Tell Us at Quote Stage: Confirm the court or tribunal, the hearing date and whether the document is an exhibit.

    • Signed by the Translator: The declaration is drawn up and signed by the qualified translator who completed the work.

    • Notarisation if Needed: Solicitor notarisation and FCDO Apostille can be added when the document is also used abroad.

The Statement of Truth is not issued automatically. It is prepared only when court use has been confirmed.

Prices are per document and start at £40 — see what a translation costs.

    Frequently asked questions

DHCTranslations provides court-ready certified translations for hearings in England and Wales, including County Court, High Court, family and probate matters. Each translation is prepared by a qualified human translator and supplied with a signed Statement of Truth where required.

Yes. Our certified translations include the translator credentials, date of translation and a signed Statement of Truth in the format HM Courts & Tribunals Service expects for foreign-language evidence.

Certified translations for court start at £40 per document for standard certificates, and longer documents are priced from £0.09 per word after the first 400 words. Notarisation and FCDO Apostille are quoted separately, as costs depend on the document and the notary available at the time.

Most documents are returned the same day when the order and cleared payment are confirmed before 4pm on a working day, which covers urgent hearings and filing deadlines. The delivery date is confirmed in the quote once we see the pages.

A Statement of Truth is a separate declaration signed by the translator confirming the translation is accurate and complete. It is added as an additional certification layer when the document is filed with HM Courts & Tribunals Service.

Yes. Tell us at quote stage, with the court or tribunal, hearing date and whether the document is an exhibit, so the Statement of Truth, pagination and formatting are prepared correctly from the start.

Yes. Layout, stamps and seals are preserved, and the translation is paginated to match your bundle index so pages can be inserted without renumbering.

Usually not for domestic proceedings. Solicitor notarisation and FCDO Apostille can be added when the evidence is also used outside the UK.

County Court, High Court, family proceedings, probate registries and tribunals across England and Wales, including bundles filed through HM Courts & Tribunals Service.

Yes. Witness statements, expert reports, medical records and disclosure documents are translated by linguists experienced in legal terminology, with terminology kept consistent across the bundle.
