Languages are among the top eight skills required in all occupations. From healthcare and government to finance and sports (and everywhere in between), employers are looking for professionals who can communicate with a wide range of people, both at home and abroad.
As a translation company, DHCTranslations works on a “first-time-right” approach. With more than a decade of experience in supplying translation services in more than 100 languages, we know what works in multilingual publication. Our translation company places great importance in having an initial quality translation from a professional translator. Investing in the right people has been continually confirmed as the correct and prerequisite step in maintaining high standards, which goes hand-in-hand with the increasing competition on the market. We work with professionals of the highest calibre who have passed the multi-stage selection process.
We are always on the lookout for talented linguists that want to find a job translating as part of our freelance team! If you have the skills and knowledge required please get in touch by using the form on this page. Please include your as much information as possible such as your name, e-mail, standard rate (if applicable) and anything else that you feel is appropriate. You may also upload your CV and a Cover letter by using the Contact Us page to send over the documents.
If like us you are passionate about languages and you can speak at least 2 fluently becoming a freelance translator might be for you. Being a freelancer is a great job for those who would like to have freedom, not have to go to the office every day and it gives you the ability to schedule your time in order to meet client deadlines.
In order to be successful in translation it’s a prerequisite to be fluent in the source language (the language you are translating from) and to be a native speak of the target language (the one that you are translating into). You should of course be confident and skilled at writing in your own native language. Normally it is not advised to attempt to translate into a language that is not your native tongue. There are exceptions for this where we will be able to proofread the English to make sure that everything is 100% correct. 99% of the time our translators only translated into their mother tongue however we are able to have native English speakers proofread if the target language is English. Of course, if you have spent time living or working in the country practicing your language skills then this would be a big plus.
Most of our linguists hold at least a degree in their chosen language. That being said more and more translators seem to hold a Master degree now. The biggest benefit of a Masters is that it can be more specific to Translations whereas a bachelor’s degree could be more to do with interpreting for example which is not the same thing. As we are in such a competitive market, make sure that every detail counts and make sure that you stand out. Try to be creative with your cover letter and give us the information that we want to know, please do not tell us that you were in the local school’s band playing the flute. If you have read all of the information on this page please feel free to contact us at let us know your skills and we look forward to hearing from you.
